Love letter website: write yours online

A love letter website is a love letter set as a web page, with room for photos between the paragraphs. You write it yourself in the browser, preview it free, and give it to someone who can reread it anytime.

Sample with made-up names. See all three templates.

What a love letter website is

It is a normal letter in a different container. Instead of paper, it is a page; instead of a drawer, it is her phone. The words are yours. The page adds a clean layout, a place for photos and a design that does not distract from the text.

Why put a letter on a page

A paper letter is wonderful, but it has limits. It can be lost, it cannot show a photo of the day you describe, and it does not travel well when you live in different cities. A page can be opened in seconds, shows the photo next to the memory, and can be read again on a hard day.

If you also write on paper, the page is a good companion: a QR code card pointing to the page makes a small physical gift. (QR sharing arrives with publishing.)

How to write one when you are stuck

Most people stall at the first line. Use this order and you will have a letter in twenty minutes.

  1. Say why you are writing. "I could not fit this in a text."
  2. Tell one memory. Use the date, the place and one sensory detail.
  3. Say what it means. "That was the day I knew I could be myself."
  4. Name one thing you admire. A habit, not a trait. "The way you reread menus out loud."
  5. Look ahead. One small thing you want to do together.
  6. Sign off in your own voice. "Yours," "Always," or just your name.

A full example

Dear Maya,

I could not fit this in a text, so I made it a page.

In March, on the train to your sister's, you fell asleep on my shoulder and I did not move for forty minutes. My arm went numb. I would do it again tomorrow.

I think that is what I want to say: that you are the person I do not mind being uncomfortable for.

I admire how you say thank you to every driver. I noticed it the first week and it has not stopped.

This summer I want to take you to the lake you told me about. I will bring the bad sandwiches you like.

Yours,

Daniel

Letters for different moments

  • An apology that is also a love letter. Name what you did first, in one plain sentence, before you say anything warm.
  • A letter for a long distance partner. Describe your ordinary day in detail. They are missing the small things.
  • A letter for when words are hard. Keep it to three short paragraphs. A short, honest letter reads better than a long one that overreaches.

Tips for the writing

  • Read it aloud once. If you stumble, simplify.
  • One idea per paragraph, so photos have somewhere to sit.
  • Cut adjectives before you cut memories.
  • Do not copy lines from the internet. She will be able to tell, and it spoils the point.
  • End on a sentence that is about her, not about you.

What the page looks like

The Love Letter template sets your text in a book-like column, with photos you choose between paragraphs. It is built to be read on a phone, so keep paragraphs short.

Can I add photos and music?

You can add photos. Music is not part of the first version.

Do you read my letter?
